CHILD SAFETY SEATS INSTALLATIONS
The Olathe Police Department Traffic Unit provides Child Safety Seat installations FREE of charge to citizens of Olathe. Arrangments for this service are currently by appointment only. The coordinator for this service is Barbara Pickwoad who can be contacted at 913-971-6426 or at bpickwoad@olatheks.org
Beginning, April 2nd, 2009, the process will be changing from appointment only to first come first serve basis. This free service will be provided four Thursdays of each month. On the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, the hours of installation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month the service will be provided from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
All installations are conducted at Fire Station #6 located at 24200 W. College Boulevard, Olathe, Kansas.

The Olathe Police Department wants to remind citizens about various scams that are occurring on a local, regional, national, and world-wide level. Scams come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, it could be a knock or flyer on your door, a phone call, e-mail, or text message.
Be skeptical and cautious with your personal information.
TIPS that can help prevent you from becoming a victim.
- Most legitimate businesses are not going to ask you personal information via e-mail or over the phone. If you ever doubt the request, call the business or local branch (via a legitimate or known phone number) and inquire about the request.
- Make sure you are using appropriate filters, blocks, and firewalls on your computer system. Ensure the system that protects your information is up to date.
- Do not follow links provided in suspicious e-mails. Do not utilize phone numbers provided in suspicious e-mails. Generally, they are phony links and numbers the scammers utilize to legitimize the scam. Many scam artists are technically sound and can make an e-mail or phony site look legitimate.
- If the deal, offer or potential benefits of one of these contacts you are receiving sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- Be skeptical and cautious.
